A look back at the ICCC’s webinars

The Fall was particularly busy at the ICCC, with several webinars organized on themes of great interest to Italy and Quebec, in innovative and traditional sectors. The webinars will soon be available, in their entirety, on the ICCC’s various platforms. Here is a look back at our recent activities.

Smart and Sustainable Farming: Good Practices and Co-operation Pathways

On 22 November 2021, the ICCC organized the webinar “Smart and Sustainable Farming: Good Practices and Co-operation Pathways”, which was held within the framework of the 2nd Forum for Sustainable Development of the Lombardy Region. The event brought together experts from the province of Quebec and the Lombardy region to discuss important issues such as the potential of bio-economy in Lombardy and Quebec; the most significant innovations in digital and sustainable farming; the development of circularity processes and the potential for integration and collaboration between the two regions for businesses, research centers and industry stakeholders. Check out the webinar program here.

Québec Aerospace Industry: Emerging Trends and Opportunities

The ICCC, in collaboration with AéroMontréal, Centro Studi Italia Canada and the Umbria Aerospace Cluster, organized a webinar for Italian companies in the aerospace supply chain, with the aim of facilitating the sharing of information on the Canadian market, and in particular, that of Montreal. The keywords of the webinar were: investment and innovation. Through major investment projects in research and development, the aerospace industry is successfully keeping pace with the industry’s sustainable transition. Suzanne Benoit, President of AéroMontréal, stressed the importance for the aerospace industry to move towards carbon neutrality and the transition to hydrogen, affirming AéroMontréal’s willingness to cooperate more with Italian clusters in terms of sustainable development.

Discover Soave’s new “crus”

Master Sommelier Pier-Alexis Soulière, crowned Canada’s Best Sommelier in 2021, presented Soave’s new “crus” in a dedicated webinar. For the tasting part, he was joined by journalists Nathalie Richard and Michelle Bouffard. Soave is a well-known white wine made in Veneto, province of Verona, and consists of at least 70% Garganega grapes and the rest from Chardonnay and Trebbiano di Soave. The Soave Wine Consortium announced last year the creation of 33 new “crus” covering 38% of the total area of the denomination. To learn more about Soave, click here.

NEWS FROM ICCC MEMBERS

Mapei’s significant investment in Quebec

Carmine D’Argenio, President of the ICCC, and Danielle Virone, Executive Director of the ICCC, were present at the groundbreaking ceremony marking the official start of work on a new powder production plant and distribution facility of Mapei in Laval. This Italian subsidiary, whose key to success lies in innovation, has already invested heavily in Quebec over the years. The construction of the new plant will therefore be in addition to the existing facility that serves as the headquarters of Mapei Inc., whose adjacent plant also produces polymers, adhesives and, more recently, concrete admixtures. The additional space will include a new research and development laboratory for concrete admixtures, which will make the Laval manufacturing facility one of the most efficient plants – in terms of technology, capacity and complexity – within the Mapei North America network.
