Rita Cucchiara (MS in Electronic Engineering 1989, Phd in Computer Engineering 1992 from the University of Bologna, Italy) is full professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, where she heads the AImageLab group.

Since was the Director of the CINI National Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems from 2018 to 2021, with the support of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Institute of Technology. From 2016 to 2018 she has been president of Italian CVPL Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning association, the Italian chapter of IAPR. She is IAPR Fellow since 2006 and ELLIS fellow since 2019. She has been on the Governing Board of IAPR and is a member of the Advisory Board of Computer Vision Foundation. She is Area Chair of several conferences (Neurips, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ECCAI, ICPR), Program Chair of ICCV2017, CVPR2024, General Chair of ICPR2020, ACMMM2020, ECCV2022.

She published more than 400 papers on pattern recognition and computer vision and multimedia, and in particular in human behavior understanding, surveillance and visual-language human-robot interfaces as well as in vision for automotive and multimedia data.
