Michele Colajanni – University of Bologna

Full Professor of cybersecurity at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering / University of Bologna

Michele Colajanni is full professor of cybersecurity at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Bologna. His research interests include cybersecurity, scalable architectures for big data management and machine learning analytics. He founded the Research Center on Cybersecurity and Safety, and the Cyber Academy for ethical hackers at the University of Modena. He has directed several courses and masters in cybersecurity technologies and governance for universities, the Ministry of Defense and the Bologna Business School. Since 2014, he has been organizing the summer camp “Digital Girls” for bridging the gender digital divide.

Michele Colajanni graduated from the University of Pisa and received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Roma “Tor Vergata”, where he was Assistant Professor until 1997. He was visiting researcher at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, New York during his sabbatical year in 1996. He was Associate Professor at the University of Modena from 1998 to 2000 and Full Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia from 2000 to 2020. He is a member of various commissions and organizations, such as the WG Cyber security of the AIPCR Commission on smart roads of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation, the Commission of Italian Association of Quality Culture (AICQ) on Industry 4.0, the executive commission of the Foundation “Telefono Azzurro” on child protection, the Scientific Board of AIPSA – Italian Association of Corporate Security Professionals, the EU CyberNet – the bridge to cybersecurity expertise in the European Union. His scientific production includes more than 250 peer-reviewed articles, and more than 500 presentations in meetings, conferences, including invited lectures.
