Executive Director / International Center of Expertise of Montreal for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence
After a rewarding career as an international M&A lawyer, Jacques decided, in 2005, to join the development sector to help improve the lives of low-income populations around the world. Over the last fifteen years, he contributed his expertise to build cross-sector partnerships to deliver impact through innovative solutions. His work included cross-sector partnerships to develop market-based solutions to facilitate access to affordable housing to low-income populations, new financing models to facilitate access to irrigation systems to small-farm producers, and the development of an innovative social art approach to increase sustainability of water and sanitation (WASH) interventions at the community level. In June 2020, Jacques Rajotte was appointed as Interim Executive Director of the International Center of Expertise of Montreal for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (CEIMIA) a start-up non-profit organization created in the context of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) to promote the responsible, inclusive and human rights based development of AI. Within the GPAI, the CEIMIA is supporting the work of the Data Governance Working Group, the Responsible AI Working Group and the AI and the Pandemic Sub-working Group. Jacques holds a Law Degree from Université de Montréal, an International Law Master from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
