Ilaria Re serves as the Director of EU Project Office at Consorzio Italbiotec, the Italian leading non-profit organisation on biotechnology sector and Head of Project management at the Lombardy Green Chemistry Association, the Lombard regional cluster of bioeconomy since its inception in 2013.
The Lombardy Green Chemistry Association brings together majors regional public and private innovators operating in the sustainability field focused on boosting bioeconomy growth and promote new business opportunities in the biobased sector.
In the field on international cooperation on behalf of the Lombardy Green Chemistry Association, she leads the technical coordination of the Bioeconomy Pilot of the Vanguard Initiative (www.s3vanguardinitiative.eu), the European network bringing together over 35 regions committing to use their Smart specialisation strategy to boost new growth through bottom-up entrepreneurial innovation and industrial renewal in European priority areas.
She is an adjunct professor at the University of Milan in the Department of Department of Food, Environmental and Nutritional Sciences and the University of Bologna in the Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology where she teaches international R&D project management in the biotechnology field.
Beginning in 2018, she works in the Technology Cluster Blue Italian Growth as a member of the board of director contributing to enhancing blue biotechnology as one of the most cutting-edge tools for sustainable growth.
Previously, she held the position of assistant director for Research, Innovation, Human Capital Directorate of the Municipality of Milan, contributing to design R&D funding programs mainly in the fields of biotechnology and green technologies.
She obtained an MSc in Humanities studies at University of Pavia and Master in Economics, International and EU public affairs at the Sole24Ore Business School.
