Professor Guido Boella has been Director of the Computer Science Department from 2018 to 2021 and a member of the Academic Senate of the University of Turin. His research activities concern the fields of artificial intelligence, the legal informatics of geoinformatics and the blockchain. He has created software such as the social network FirstLife and the wallet app blockchain Commonshood. He has participated in technology transfer projects for companies. He founded the university spinoff Nomotika.
He is the coordinator of various regional and European projects (ICT4LAW, EUCases, CANP, WeGovNow, Co-city, CO3, PININ, NLAB4CIT) and of the international doctorate in Law, Science and Technology LAST-JD. He is vicepresident of the Competence Center Industry Manufacturing CIM4.0 and cofounder of the Italian Society for the Ethics of AI (SIpEIA)
