Cecilia Del Re – Councilor, City of Florence
City councilor, labour lawyer / City of Florence
Cecilia Del Re was born in Florence on November 7th 1982. She is an labour lawyer, with a PhD in Comparative Law from the University of Florence. She graduated in Florence with top marks and honours, but interspersed her studies with several semesters abroad; at the University of Leicester in England with the Erasmus program; at Georgetown University in Washington, DC by winning a scholarship funded by the University of Florence; and finally at New York University in New York City, to conduct research during her doctoral studies. She is also a journalist and publicist.
Cecilia Del Re was elected as City Councillor for the Municipality of Florence on May 25th 2014, and was appointed president of the First Council Commission on “General Affairs, Organization, Budget and Taxes” until February 2017. She was then appointed by the Mayor of Florence as the Councillor for Economic Development and Tourism for the Municipality of Florence.
Following the administrative elections of May 26th 2019, Mrs. Del Re was given responsibility over urban planning, the environment, tourism, conventions and exhibitions, technological innovation, and information systems for the Municipality of Florence. Moreover, she is also the coordinator of the Recovery plan project, the smart city initiative, and oversees the UNESCO Management Plan.
