On September 22, 2026, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada (ICCC) brought together aerospace and defence industry leaders, alongside experts in finance, law and regulation, in Montréal for Sovereign Skies — the Canada–Italy Aerospace Conference. The event explored new opportunities for industrial collaboration between Canada and Italy at a time when supply chains are evolving and international partnerships are becoming increasingly important.
Discussions featured representatives from CAE, Leonardo Canada, 49North, Boeing and Mecaer, who shared their perspectives on industrial cooperation, investment and opportunities for growth across the two markets. A second panel examined the financing, regulatory, compliance and business growth considerations companies must navigate to enter and expand their participation in aerospace and defence supply chains.
Complementary Strengths, Shared Opportunities
The conference highlighted the complementary strengths of the Canadian and Italian industrial ecosystems. Italy brings a strong manufacturing base, recognized engineering expertise and advanced technological capabilities. Canada contributes world-class expertise in innovation, research and development, and advanced technologies, together with a strategic position in the North American market.
By building on these complementary capabilities, companies in both countries can develop new industrial partnerships, strengthen their participation in international supply chains and pursue opportunities for growth across aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing.
