Lombardy in Montréal: Where the Roads Take Us

On September 23, 2026, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada (ICCC) welcomed a delegation from the Lombardy Region to Montréal for an event celebrating this northern Italian region under the theme “Lombardia. Where the Roads Take Us.” Hosted at the Port of Montréal Tower, the event brought together travel professionals, media representatives and partners to showcase Lombardy’s diversity and the experiences it offers Canadian travellers.

From its iconic lakes and historic cities to its mountains, outdoor activities, regional cuisine and distinctive way of life, Lombardy offers a different perspective on Italy, where culture, nature and local traditions come together.

Cycling Tourism: Discovering Lombardy Along the Way

Cycling tourism was a central theme of the event. Guests were invited to experience the routes surrounding Lake Como through an immersive virtual cycling experience, offering a glimpse of the spectacular scenery and cycling itineraries that make the region an appealing destination for cycling enthusiasts and active travellers.

The theme took on a particularly meaningful dimension with the presence of Giuseppe Marinoni, a Lombardy native and founder of Marinoni Cycles. Based in Montréal, his company manufactures bicycles recognized by cycling enthusiasts. His journey reflects a tangible connection between his region of origin and his entrepreneurial success in Canada, highlighting the ties between Lombardy and the Montréal market.

A Taste of Lombardy

The discovery continued at the table with a menu specially created by Marco Bertoldini, chef at Siamo Noi, featuring regional Lombard specialties paired with local wines, including the renowned Franciacorta.

The culinary experience offered guests an opportunity to discover the region’s gastronomic heritage and the close relationship between its cuisine, local products and traditions.

Strengthening Connections Between Lombardy and Canada

Beyond destination promotion, the event highlighted the connections between Lombardy and Montréal and the value of introducing the region to the Canadian market. By bringing together tourism professionals, media representatives and partners through immersive experiences and authentic encounters, the initiative helped create new opportunities to raise awareness of Lombardy as a destination.

The ICCC extends its sincere thanks to the Lombardy Region and its delegation, as well as all partners, collaborators and guests who contributed to the success of the evening.

Lombardy invites you to take the road, explore new horizons and discover Italy from a different perspective.
