The Italian Pharmaceutical Sector is in Full Expansion

In the first quarter of 2020, Italian exports of pharmaceutical products recorded an increase of more than 24%, counterbalancing decreases seen throughout the rest of the Italian economy. The pharmaceutical sector is set for strategic growth in a recovery scenario and is demonstrating innovation and sustainability with the penetration of 4.0 technologies in more than 90% of companies in Italy and a marked reduction in energy consumption. International Tourism Resumes in Italy

After the long period of confinement, Italy has reopened its borders and has already noticed a recovery in the tourism sector. Tourism is expected to increase more after August 15th when European tourists, and to a lesser extent Russian and American travelers, plan their stays in the country, the sector is also expected to grow throughout September and October. A Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence

Canada joins a new Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), hosted by the OECD in Paris, whose goal is to encourage responsible use of AI and facilitate international and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The GPAI will bring together experts from the private sector, government, civil society and academia to conduct research and pilot projects on artificial intelligence. The Quebec government is joining this initiative by founding the International Centre of Expertise in Montréal for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (ICEMAI). Click here.

A Smart Bracelet to Detect the Coronavirus

An Italian company, Empatica, has unveiled a bracelet that would be able to signal the presence of the coronavirus in the body of its wearer, even before the individual has developed symptoms. Tests are currently underway to measure the bracelet’s effectiveness. Click here (article in Italian).
