Assistant Deputy Minister for Bilateral Relations / Québec Department of International Relations
Since October 2019, Éric Marquis is Assistant Deputy Minister for Bilateral Relations for the Québec Department of International Relations. In that capacity he is responsible for 28 of Québec’s international offices and for coordinating relations between Québec and several of its strategic partners in the Americas, Europe and Asia. From September 2017 to October 2019, Mr. Marquis was Assistant Deputy Minister for the United States, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.
Prior to that, he was the Québec Government Representative in Chicago from 2011 to 2017, where he was responsible for developing Québec’s trade, investment and political relations with 12 Midwestern states. He also served as Québec’s representative in Washington, DC, from 2004 to 2007 and in senior management positions at the Departments of International Relations and of Education. A graduate from the University of Victoria in British Columbia and Concordia University in Montréal, he taught American history and American foreign policy in various Québec universities, including the Québec Institute of Advanced International Studies (IQHEI) at Université Laval.
