Stéphane Guay – Centre Axel

Stéphane Guay is a Professor in the School of Criminology and in the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Sciences at the Université de Montréal. Stéphane completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in the year 2000 and has been at the helm of The Montreal Mental Health Teaching Hospital’s Research Centre (the CR-IUSMM) as its Chief Scientific Officer since 2015 while also serving as Deputy Head of Research at the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal.

Stéphane co-directs the Axel Centre, which was launched in 2018 as an incubator for the development and validation of digital technologies within the mental health field, and is involved in the Québec Ministry for Health and Social Services’ 2021-2026 Inter-Ministerial Action Plan as a chief advisor on digital service strategies. Stéphane shares joint responsibility for leading the Clinical Research and Innovative Therapeutic Intervention Methods strategy within the Quebec Network on Suicide, Mood Disorders and Associated Disorders funded by the FRQ-S and is one of the founding members of the Université de Montréal’s Emerging Initiatives in Neuroscience and Mental Health group.

Stéphane’s research in digital health technologies centres on developing mobile applications for mental health, on the assessment, prevention and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder using ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and on tele-psychotherapy services.
