It provides ideas, tools and resources fostering innovation and development, creating new business opportunities, and enhancing collaboration between companies, universities and regional research centers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With 19 laboratories and 48 associated enterprises, Biotecnomed is a highly specialized organization in the fields of Biotechnology and Human Health, providing advanced services and facilities for research centers and enterprises.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consortium\u2019s 4\nmain application areas: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Regenerative medicine<\/strong>, dealing with structural and functional restoration of organs and\ndamaged tissues, through the use of cells taken from the individual and grown\nin the laboratory.<\/li><li><strong>Advanced diagnostics<\/strong>, allowing early recognition of specific diseases, minimizing misdiagnosis\ndue to the limitations of traditional clinical pathways and optimizing public\nspending.<\/li><li><strong>Neuromotor rehabilitation<\/strong> now has innovative tools that integrate into more traditional\nrehabilitative paths.<\/li><li><strong>Nutraceuticals and functional foods<\/strong>, dealing with the design and\ncharacterization of foods aimed at promoting the prevention of chronic diseases\nwith high social impact, to improve the quality of life of citizens and\noptimize public spending<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Biotecnomed consists\nof 14 members, 1 workspace and 7 patents under their portfolio and they are\ncurrently invested in 12 R&amp;D projects and 4 areas of applied\nresearch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biotecnomed took part in the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"1st Canada-Italy Business Forum on AI  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/italchamber.qc.ca\/primo-business-forum-italia-canada-sullintelligenza-artificiale-focus-emilia-romagna\/?lang=it\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>1<sup>st<\/sup> Canada-Italy Business Forum on AI <\/strong><\/a>in September 2019 in Montreal. Throughout the 2-day event, officials from Biotecnomed had the opportunity to connect with some of Quebec\u2019s most innovative startups, established companies, research centers and clusters within the life sciences sector in order to offer their services and establish future partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since biomedical\nsciences represents a highly specialized sector in the region of Calabria, it\nboasts several centers of excellence with high-level technologies. These\nresources can be exploited and integrated through the Innovation Pole of Health\nTechnologies, to improve innovation development in Calabria and to boost new\nbusiness opportunities for companies, universities and regional research\ncenters in the field of human health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biotecnomed is the\nGeneral Partner of the Human Health District, created in Calabria in 2013,\nwhich involves all of its 13 members together with the National Research\nCouncil. The result of this partnership initiative is a cluster focused on\nHuman Health, whose aim is to promote local scientific, technological and\nindustrial advances in a national and international context and attracting\ninvestments through the spread of cultural innovation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biotecnomed owns\nin-house laboratories and state-of-the-art equipment for 3D modeling,\nsimulation and printing, PCB rapid prototyping, SW development and HW+SW\nintegration and testing.
