“Savour Italy: the territory, the culture, the traditions.” This is the tagline that translates the spirit of Wine and Travel Italy, the initiative created and conceptualized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada for wine lovers, foodies and fans of experiential tourism. Yes, because those who travel today are no longer content to simply “visit” tourist attractions but want to “experience” the territory and the soul that pervades it. For an original, authentic and memorable experience.
And it is precisely to promote this “experiential” tourism that, from November 18th to 21st, ten wine producers, “ambassadors” of vineyards in Calabria, met in Montreal, in order to establish a direct contact with Canadian consumers; to fully seize the opportunities of this constantly growing market and to promote the combination of product/territory.
The wines of Calabria were the protagonists of this international showcase which included meetings with importers, buyers and restaurateurs, tastings and seminars with sommeliers, tour operators and wine lovers.

Gennaro Convertini, President of Enoteca Regionale Casa dei Vini di Calabria, was also present.
In particular, on Wednesday November 20th, there was a luncheon-conference during which the producers were invited to tell the story behind their labels and wineries. Jacques Orhon, renowned writer, lecturer, sommelier and Italian wine enthusiast, was among the key-note speakers. He traveled to Calabria earlier this year and shared his knowledge and love of wines with the guests.
In addition, new travel packages featuring Calabria and prepared by tour operators and travel agencies were launched during the week.
Another activity very much appreciated by the participants, not only among consumers, but also by the representatives of the food sector, was the Masterclass on extra virgin olive oils from Calabria: an original activity, moderated by a certified olive oil sommelier, Michel Favuzzi.
